Description of Elective Experience:
This is a busy mixed practice that sees emergencies in a resort area.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
There are 3 to 5 doctors, and 40 support staff here. There is a VIN consultant on staff. We have ultrasound, digital rads, Idexx lab machines, a dental machine and handle 10 to 20 surgeries per day. A board certified surgeon come here to practice biweekly.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Students can be involved in any or all aspects. Typically they are at the preactice for 40 hours a week. They can also get experience with after hours emergencies.
