Practice routinely performs 10-20 surgeries daily and more on surgery saturdays, works with local resuces, dog warden and TNR programs. Surgeries are not limited to routine, and often include life saving surgeries on a budget. Doctor uses osteopathic medicine to view whole patient when considering diagnosis and some alternative medicine therapies. Clinic has casual atmosphere especially when handling animals - focus on energy of patients, minimal restraint with more distraction techniques unless necessary. Clinic has 1-2 doctors, 2-4 support staff members, 3 surgery tables with anesthesia machines, dental equipment, cautery, 3 exam rooms, treatment room, lab equipment, centrifuge, microscope, xray with chemical processing, activator chiropractic tool, Class IIIb laser and MagnaWave.
Normal hours of operation M-F 9-5 (occasionally after hours for complicated or ER cases). Surgeries are routinely performed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings and one Saturday monthly. Appointments Monday and Friday 10-4 and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Students are expected to be active in handling and examining patients and communicating with clients depending on skill level. Treating, diagnosing and surgical assistance are expected at clinical level. Doctors and support staff will be available for case review daily.
