Description of Elective Experience: 

Diverse mixed animal experience with two OSU alum as husband/wife owners. SWVC also has two full time MA associates who provide some small ruminant and bovine service. 

Dr. Kris Willaman is accomplished in SA medicine and surgery and is a great mentor. 

Dr. Wes Violet has over 40 years experience in equine practice and has a very busy schedule performing lameness diagnosis and treatment, reproduction and dentistry. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

15 - 18 veterinary assistants and technicians. Dedicated library with CE materials and work stations. 

Multiple DR and ultrasound units. Modern surgical suite. Shockwave and PRP.  Advanced dental equipment for SA and equine. 

3 ambulatory units for equine and farm animal service. 

 

 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

 40 hours per week required. Additional hours for emergency work strongly encouraged. 

5 days per week but some weekend hours expected. 

Preceptor expected to attend cases with clinicians and learn by hands-on experience.

Modern upstairs apartment in clinic facility offered at no charge.
