Description of Elective Experience: 

Student will have a well rounded general practice experience.  There will be opportunities to work with 4 doctors with varying interests in small animal, large animal and exotic pets.  Experiences will include appointments, surgeries and emergency/urgent care.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

SRAC is an AAHA accreditied practice with a wide range of services.  This includes small animal internal medicine, preventative care, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, dentistry, herd management and on site farm services.  We have in house IDEXX lab equipment, digital x-ray and dental x-ray, ultrasound and offer class IV laser therapy, as well as equine dentistry and equine/bovine reproductive services.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

The student will be assisting the doctors with physical exams in the exam rooms, will be allowed to scrub into surgery and will assist with large animal procedures in the barn.
