St. Anna Veterinary Clinic, WI

Description of Elective Experience:

We are a mixed animal practice that provides ambulatory large animal medicine, surgery, and herd health. We can also provide small animal experiences. In the past, we have even allowed students to perform spay/neuter procedures if time allows.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:

We have an extra ultrasound that students can use on farm. We allow students to scrub in and assist with surgeries. Practice intravenous needle placements on cattle and diagnostics.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:

Students are expected to be at the clinic 5 days a week from 7 (or earlier) until we wrap up for the day. They are expected to ride along in the trucks with the large animal doctors and engage and as questions. We are very happy to teach and provide feedback.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info):

Students will stay with one of our veterinarians. No cost with normal amenities. Wash can be done at the clinic. No pets please.
