Description of Elective Experience:
Experience in a busy general practice. We will do our best to simulate the duties of a general practitioner for the student.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
Digital dental and body radiographs, ultrasound
Full staff of DVMs and LVTs to draw experience and learning from
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
40 hours per week, 8 to 5-7pm M-F, some Saturday hours
Student will see appointments as if they are the practitioner, discuss with the DVM, then DVM will go in and repeat exam and they will discuss treatment plan. Student will get extensive client relations experience.
Student will also have some surgical experience opportunities, the extent of which based on their our level of comfort with them
