Description of Elective Experience:
The student will be immersed directly into our culture and with our clients & patients at Town & Country Animal Clinic. He/she will receive hands-on, real-world training. Technical skills and interpersonal skills will be put to the test in order for students to learn and gain confidence moving forward in their careers as DVMs. The student will be directly supervised by our Veterinarian. Under supervision, the student will gain experience in the following areas:
- Gathering & interpreting patient history
- Performing physical exams
- Wellness, ill & emergency patient management
- Short term & Long-term medical case management
- Hands-on use of diagnostic tools
- Guided interpretation of results
- Surgical preparation/monitoring & scrub into surgery
- Proper communication through follow-up calls with clients
- Telephone communication and scheduling
Practice or Institution Type:
We have a full laboratory to run full bloodwork in house.
Digital Radiographs
Dental Radiographs
Elective and Non -Elective Surgical Procedures
Single Doctor Practice therefore students will get one on one mentoring and teaching from Dr White.
We have a full staff of assistants that are cross trained to help in all areas of the hospital.
We have a Practice Manager and 2 groomers on site.
We are flexible to work around student schedules. Our office hours are Mon - Fri 8am-6pm. Saturday 8am - 1pm.
We prefer at least 2 days per week , number of hours can be flexible.
