Description of Elective Experience:
Small animal first opinion veterinary practice
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
5 veterinary surgeons, 5 qualified veterinary nurses, 1 student nurse. Diagnostic laboratory equipment, surgical theatre, x-ray, ultrasound.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
The student can do 9-6pm for two weeks. She will begin with shadowing consults/surgery. Depending on her competency level and our confidence, she may be allowed to perform minor surgery/ be more involved in diagnostics etc.
