United States Dept of Agriculture- Veterinary Services (Raleigh, NC)

Description of Elective Experience: 

Visiting students will gain experience with a range of services provided by USDA Veterinary Services (VS). Experiences include field activities that support stakeholders prevent and contain infectious disease incursions, routine surveillance sampling, and import export services, to name a few. Experiences will vary depending on the time of year and agency priorities.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Our office is supported by USDA VS IT services and support staff that allow employees and visiting students to gain access to necessary equipment to fullfill work responsbilities.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Hours of work depend on the activities scheduled, which will vary by the year and agency priorities. The student will work Monday thru Friday.
