Student will be able to help formulate elective experience to their needs if necessary. This elective will allow student insight into the contribution of veterinarians in an academic institution where curriculum is currently being developed. Student can be involved in teaching professional students in their first and second year didactic courses. Student can also delve deeper into veterinary specialty careers, including internal medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, to name a few. Student will be able to participate in daily activities in these three specialties while also interacting with other professional students.
Students will have access to all locations used by the Univeristy of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine - Main campus, the Campus Agricultural Center, Health Sciences Campus, and any of the distributive sites of the college. On staff are mostly board certified veterinarians with diverse backgrounds in academia. Student will be able to work alongside any of our univeristy teaching faculty or clinical associates. The CVM also has a robust student wellness and student health program available to rotating students from other universities. Visiting students can participate in any students organization.
Student is expected to commit to elective rotation fully during their stay (at least 40 hours/week). Days of the week may vary depending on teaching responsibilities, current curriculum being taught at time of rotation, case load at distributive sites. Students are encouraged not only to shadow academic faculty but also contribute in any way they can to teaching, clinical case management or independent study.
Although no official student housing is available, we are able to help make individual arrangments with visiting students to ensure adequate housing during stay.
