Large Animal Surgery – The objective of this course is to teach students proper restraint techniques, examination procedures, diagnostic techniques, and surgical techniques that are commonly used in the practice of large animal surgery; to teach students anatomical and pathophysiological basics of large animal lameness and surgical diseases; to teach senior veterinary students patient care including medical and surgical therapy, nutritional management, intensive care, client communication, and cost of therapy as related to large animal surgical diseases; and to teach students logical assessment of physical, clinicopathological, and diagnostic information pertaining to large animal surgical disease using the problem-oriented medical record system.
