University of Idaho - U.S. Sheep Experiment Station

Description of Elective Experience: 

During our lambing period.  Working with Research Sheep.  All hands-on experience.  Will do necropsies and needed medical help for lambs and ewes. We have a veterinarian here during this period of time for guidenance as needed.

 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

This is a government facility with scientists and a veterinarian here during this lambing time.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Students are on call 24-7 for any problems that may arise any time of day and night.  Working 7 days a week.

DVM here to help and teach about lambing problems.

 

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info): 

Dormitory for interns.  Cost is approximately $4.80/day.

A bedroom for each student.  Kitchen and two bathrooms with showers.  Close to lambing facility.
