Description of Elective Experience: 

Fourth year clinical rotation in Avian, Zoological and Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery with 7 veterinarians (one board certified in ABVP Avian and ABVP Exotic Companion Mammal; one in ABVP Avian; two in ACZM; two Residents in a Combined ABVP Avian and Exotic Companion Mammal residency; one Intern in a Combined Zoo animal/ Small Animal program.) We have one of the busiest clinical university practices, seeing over 3000 cases per year of both wildlife and owned companion exotic animals. Nick fully participated in all aspects of animal care including anesthesia, surgery and medicine.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

We have CO2 laser, Spiral CT, MRI, Endoscopy, PAC System Digital Radiography, and board certified indiviuals in all aspects of veterinary care.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

At least 8-5 M-F and weekend morning rounds, as well as rotational on call for wildlife.
