•Attend the world renowned dairy cattle well-being and production medicine training center in Wisconsin - learn from the best herd troubleshooters in the business.
•Develop the skills you need to enhance the services you can offer clients from day 1 in private dairy cattle practice and become a valuable asset to your new clinic.
4 week (Core Skills) and 2 week (Advanced Technique) offerings to 4th year dairy veterinary students.
Classroom, laboratory, and on farm instruction. Access to multiple Wisconsin dairy farms ranging in size from 50-4000 cow herd sizes.
Equipment including but not limited to:Ventilation assessment equipment, ultrasounds; milking system vacuum recorders, computerized dairy records software and laptops.
Staffing-veterinarians, professional hoof trimmers, instructional staff.
Classroom instruction hours typically 8 am to 5 pm daily. Some visits early and late to farms start as early as 6 am and end approximately 6 pm. No weekend or on call responsibilities.
Occasional reading and class assignments assigned to be completed out of classroom hours.
University housing or local hotels arranged through UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine USDA VSGP grant. Costs covered by USDA VSGP grant.
