Vale Veterinary Clinic, OR

Description of Elective Experience:

We are a busy mixed animal practice in a rural setting. This is a true "rural, country hospital". Students would have amply opportunity for large and small animal medicine and surgery. We have modern equipment and lots of employees to help in all areas. We also try to include some involvement in the business aka reception area of the clinic to give a rounded tour of what happens in this type of business.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:

We are a 5 doctor practice with a total of 18 employees. Our motto is to always strive to be the Hilton of vet clinics and still keep our country feel. We are very involved in the community.  Our equipment is modern and up to date and we are always looking to find new things to help us better practice medicine.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:

Our clinic is open 8-5:30 Monday through Friday and 8-12 on Saturdays. We are a full ER clinic 24 hours a day. A student would be expected to work alongside other employees at a minimum of 4 days a week as well as sharing on call experience in order to practice emergency medicine and real world practice. There will always be a minimum and doctor and technician involved so that the student is allowed ample opportunity to watch and learn as well as stepping in to get hands on experience.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info):

Differs from student to student on what we are able to offer. More details to be discussed with scheduling.
