Description of Elective Experience: 

Students will be able to rotate through the specialties of their choice while spending time at our hospital. They will have exposure to an abundance of specialty and ER cases. Case responsibility will be limited to student experience and clincian preference. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

We have specialists in internal medicine, neurology, medical and radiation oncology, ophthalmology, radiology, rehabilitation medicine, nutrition and orthopedic and soft tissue surgery. Our hospital is a state-of-the art 35,000 square foot facility.  Some of the features include a 64-slice CT, 1.5 T MRI, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, a brand new Varian Halcyon linear accelerator, a Holmium YAG laser, fully functional emergency treatment area, and a full service physical therapy suite.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

We expect students to be on service the hours of the specialty they chose to rotate through, with 5 day work weeks (weekdays and/or weekends), 40-60 hours. No after hours or on-call time is expcted, but we welcome any interest in this expereince. 

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info): 

We may be able to make arrangements for staying in the home of a staff member for the duration of the visit. Ideally, no pets will be allowed for this stay, but potentially exceptions can be made in special circumstances.
