Description of Elective Experience: 

General practice with an emphasis on wellness, dental surgery with general medicine, surgery, dermatology at the GP level 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Staffed with multiple highly skilled licensed RVTs who are also regional leaders and trainers. Most technical staff has graduated from RVT programs. Doctors value mentor experience. Management is highly supportive of fostering learning environment at all levels of the practice. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Hours: 8 hours/5 days per week expected (M-F)

Depending on level of engagement and maturity of the extern, the student will be encouraged to participate as a doctor in training with a combination of direct support and shadowing. Senior students have RVT priviledges in California and student will be trained in anesthesia, induction, dental radiography and extractions.  Student will be invited to assist in soft tissue surgeries.
