Ventana Animal Clinic, NM

Description of Elective Experience:

Students will shadow the veterinarians in our practice.  For preventative and wellness exams, students will engage the pet owners obtaining history and physicals prior to partnering with the veterinarin.  There will be a team effort to determin the plan and action.

In our practice we provide spay/neuter for the local shelter.  Students will obtain physicals for the days surgical animals, and under the direct supervison of the veterianrian provide the elective sterilization. Scrubbing in on other procedures will be expected and encouraged

Approximately 1/4 of our pet visits are exotics or pocket pets.  Shadowing these cases provides a good experience if the student has an interest in exotics.
