We look forward to hosting a veterinary student at our practice to allow them to see what general practice is all about. Animal Medical Centre of Medina is a 4 doctor practice that practices high quality medicine and surgery. Beyond vaccinations and well care exams, we are proud to work up advanced medical cases using digital radiographs and ultrasound and we offer soft tissue, dental and orthopedic surgery. We have a grooming and boarding facility as well. Students can observe physical exams and surgery at the beginning and work on practicing their blood draw, catheters, lab and radiographic techniques. As the time progresses, along with supervision, we will allow the students to assist and participate in surgery and case exams and work up. We hope to help the student practice interpreting bloodwork and radiographs and aid in coming up with treatment plans and medication doses. If the student has a particular goal or hope, we hope to have them achieve this.
Animal Medical Centre of Medina is fully staffed with a great support team. We are happy to have 4 RVTs, 2 RVT students, technician assistants, kennel assistants, grooming and a receptionist team. We have a large library of textbooks and access to VIN. We have an inhouse microscope and CBC/Chemistry analyzer. We have Doppler blood pressure unit, EKG, ultrasound, digital full body and dental radiograph units, blood transfusion kits and IV infusion pumps and fluid pumps. We have an electrocautery unit and various surgical equipment. We have a therapeutic therapy laser and we offer PRP and Stem Cell treatments via Ardent Animal Health. We have an ultrasonic dental scaler and drill. We also have STT, Flurostain, Tonopen and Diamond Burr for our ocular cases and a Woods Lamp and various stains for our dermatology cases. We have a large pharmacy and prescription diets.
We are open Monday - Friday 7:30a-5p and Saturday 8a-2p. We can accommodate the student needs to meet their requirements during our business hours. Students will come and shadow and observe alongside the team of 4 doctors. The student will have time to observe surgery in the mornings and shadow appointments in the afternoon. The student will also be asked to help with care of our hospital and boarding patients at times. The student will never be at the practice alone or unsupervised from our doctor team. We hope to help the student gain the knowledge and confidence they need for their veterinary career. We are happy to assist in setting personal goals for each student as they come to our practice. Currently a mask is required in our practice and we have a policy in place for calling in sick. Scrubs and lab coats are worn daily.
