Veterinaria 24/7 is the largest small animal hospital in Puerto Rico. We run 24 hours, seven days a week, specializing on emergencies. This is a nine doctor practice, including a veterinary oncologist. We see everything, from wellness and preventative care visits, to emergency surgery and procedures.
Our hospital has nine full-time veterinarians, 30 veterinary nurses, 6 customer service representatives, 4 kennel persons, a full-time administrator, and a Human Resources company supporting our hospital. We have both full Idexx and Abaxis CBC/Chem/UA/Others systems; Imagyst Cytology machine, Digital Radiology with both artificial intelligence and radiologist interpretation; Ultrasound; Electrocardiography; Endoscopy and Rhinoscopy.
Our hospital has two surgical suites with a large prep room between them; the ICU has two large wet tables and two large dry tables to be able to work with up to four patients at the same time. We have an Isolation Ward with room for up to 8 patients.
We hospitalize between 25 and 60 patients every day.
The student must complete at least 40 hours of work per week. This is a very hands on experience where we expect the student to communicate effectively with clients and staff, we expect and encourage many questions and different perspectives. The student will take ownership of cases and discuss them in depth with clinician.
Student housing is available at no cost. It is a one bedroom apartment contiguous to our hospital with full bathroom and kitchen. Sheets, kitchen appliances and supplies are available.
