Description of Elective Experience:
Strictly after hours emergency & critical care
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
Full Idexx lab machines, I-Stat, digital xray, ultrasound, full emergency surgery suite, top-notch emergency veterinarians & support staff, etc
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
8 hour shifts up to 5 nights/week Mon-Fri. Shadowing mostly, but if the on-staff DVM becomes comfortable with the externs knowledge, they will allow them to take on cases under their supervision/guidance (exception would be surgical cases).
