Dr. Boerner has owned a mobile General Equine practice since 1989.  She sees a wide variety of breeds. Appointments include yearly exams, Castration’s, basic lameness and pre-purchase exams, reproductive work ups/ pregnancy checks, foal exams, some basic teeth floating, etc. Some small ruminant work is also included. Dr Boerner takes care of a lot of emergencies consisting of colics, wounds, eye problems, sick foals, and recumbent animals.

If you are looking for an ideal place to learn, consider an internship with Cambria Veterinary Care.  We are a rapidly growing small and exotic animal practice located in the Laurel Highlands of West Central PA.  We are seeking to mentor a motivated veterinary student in small and exotic animal general medicine and surgery.

Our friendly and experienced team currently consists of three veterinarians, three licensed veterinary technicians, ten veterinary assistants, five receptionists, an office manager and a hospital manager.  With in-house laboratory, ultrasound, radiology, dental and surgical facilities, we provide complete care for a variety of small animals including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, pocket pets, and occasionally amphibians.  As the preeminent exotic practice in the area, approximately 20% of our patients are exotic animals.  

We offer students free housing and parking in a newly renovated apartment on site.  The Laurel Highlands is a destination for outstanding outdoor recreation including hiking, kayaking, biking, hunting, and skiing.  The city of Johnstown is rich in history and cultural activities including ballet, symphony, museums, college and semi-pro sports, and Pittsburgh is only 60 miles away.

Our 3+ doctor practice in rural Tuscarawas County is a busy companion animal practice. We serve a diverse client base. Veterinary externs will spend time performing physical exams, ordering/interpreting diagnostics, assisting in soft tissue surgery, oral surgery, charting medical records, developing treatment plans and discussing plans with owners.

Our Disease Investigations team offer unfunded student externships for self-motivated, energetic, third and fourth year veterinary students. We run a high volume diagnostic service with a caseload of approximately 1,800 necropsies, 360 surgical biopsies, and 700 cytologies per year. Externships offer an opportunity for students to gain exposure to the study of diseases of wildlife utilizing material from the collections of the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park, as well as our field conservation programs.

Students will spend the majority of their time performing necropsies and developing gross descriptive skills. There are also opportunities for study of histologic sections, examination of clinical laboratory specimens (including cytology), and research projects. Students will participate in daily, weekly, and monthly pathology rounds in collaboration with area pathologists, animal care staff, and clinical veterinarians.
