IIAD offers 4 externships to veterinary students throughout each fiscal year, 2 extern positions in the spring and 2 extern positions in the fall. During an externship with IIAD, students will spend up to 4 weeks observing and assisting with the implementation of IIAD’s programs covering animal health risk prevention and risk response within the One Heath sector. Externs will gain insight and experience in the administration and application of U.S. and international working partnerships amongst government agencies and organizations IIAD collaborates with. Externs will also make valuable connections and working relationships with epidemiologists, veterinarians, public health staff, and other professionals within the Institute, Texas A&M AgriLife, and other external entities.
