The student will experience our hospital flow, surgery, laboratory functions, preventative medicine, room appointments, technician and assistant duties as they support DVMs and some emergencies.

Although, we are primarily a small animal practice some of our doctors will also see exotics and birds, so you will have plenty of opportunities to try many different specialties. We also offer a two doctor day practice just minutes away from the ER, to further your education and experiences.

The Center for Comparative Medicine provides care and housing of animals utilized by the clinical and research faculty in these programs, as well as a variety of research support services.
The student will be involved in one on one assignment with a surgeon who will be performing complex, orthopedic, and soft tissue surgeries. Duties will involve both clinical outpatient and operating room activities.
Rotating through the Neurology department at NCSU.
This 2 credit elective clinical rotation is designed to provide the student with exposure to the medical and surgical management of neurological disease in small animal veterinary patients. Students will assist in the care of patients presenting to the Neurology Service of the Terry Center and will work under the direct supervision of faculty and house officers on the service. The primary objective of the rotation is to provide students with the skills necessary to effectively manage common neurological disorders of dogs and cats in practice.
Poultry Medicine emphasize in poultry production
- Our practice treats patients ranging from cats and dogs to birds and other exotics. As a hospital, we provide GP, UC and ER services to the species we see. The student will have daily discussions and rounds with the veterinarians, case discussion, treatment discussion and potentially scrub in on surgeries! We serve a diverse clientele and are located in Denver near Denver University.
- Veterinary externs may be placed with one of our several DVMs pending their interest and goals for their externship. We have DVMs that work on exotics, enjoy surgery, provide acupuncture and rehab, and even leadership/management duties.
Comstock Equine Hospital is currently excepting externs for the 2023-2024 year. We gladly accept 1st-4th year students. Our veterinarians have years of experience mentoring young veterinary professionals and greatly enjoy the opportunity to teach. Externs participate in both in house and ambulatory cases, emergencies and assist during surgeries. We like to schedule 1-2 week externships as this provides the best timing for increased learning opportunities. We are located just outside of Reno in Pleasant Valley. With close proximity to Lake Tahoe and the Sierra National Forest.
Cat Care Clinic in Ormond Beach, FL is a 3-4 DVM high-quality, feline-exclusive, full-service veterinary practice owned by Amber Carter, DVM, DABVP (Feline Practice). We have two other ABVP veterinarians on staff.
