Our externship program is structured to be an invaluable learning experience for undergraduate, technician and veterinary students. We make every effort to expose students to various aspects of equine veterinary medicine while allowing as many “hands on” opportunities as possible.
Small animal medicine and surgery in referral setting.
Students will be able to rotate through the specialties of their choice while spending time at our hospital. They will have exposure to an abundance of specialty and ER cases. Case responsibility will be limited to student experience and clincian preference.
The extern can expect to have a wide variety of experiences depending on the time of year. We will provide hands on experiences including assisting with diagnosis and treatment of cases. Assistance with daytime and evening emergencies is a great way to learn. We have rounds weekly but all doctors discuss cases daily as needed and you will participate in these discussions. We will attempt to provide a well rounded experience but will also allow some time for the extern to putsue their interests.
Student will work in a 24 hour ER/Specialty hospital.
Student will shadow a licensed veterinarian inside exam rooms, treatment area and surgery room and assist when needed.
