Students will be fully immersed in daily duties in a small animal general practice setting. Students will be expected to engage with veterinarians in clinical decision making, participate and assist in surgical procedures, help with in house treatments, and learn and utilize the medical documentation system. Students will be expected to gain as much hands- on experience as they can over the two weeks with guidance and supervision of the veterinarian. Opportunities to assist and perform spays, neuters and other elective procedures will be present.
Students can tailor this elective experience to their interests or choose to rotate through a variety of areas. We see large, small, and exotic animals for routine wellness, as well as emergency visits. We are staffed 24/7 for emergency intake and to monitor our ICU.
The student will be immersed in all aspects of the practice of clinical medicine in a private practice setting. The extern is expected to perform all medical diagnosis, treatment, procedures, and surgical tasks associated with daily private practice. Practice management will also be included in daily duites. The student will be expected to partcipate in all of these activities on a daily basis in a hands on manner and will be working in collaberation with dedicated doctor to enhance proficiency in all tasks encountered.
Duties will consist of performance of routine immunizations, diagnosis/treatment of illness, and all surgical procedures presented through the clinic on a daily basis. Students will be challenged to participate in every aspect of daily practice.
To understand and learn the workings of a full service small animal hospital. duties will include assisting with medical cases, procedures, surgery, and client interactions. students are expected to show progress in knowledge based on cases presented and participate in discussions regarding cases and during rounds. this experience is hands-on and interactive in order to prepare students for life in real world work place.
Hands on experience in a busy Toledo practice.
The student will be expected to shadow and participate in case discussion and manangement in a busy, 3 doctor, small animal practice. If time and experience allows student will be allowed to participate in surgeries and assist in any surgical and dental procedures.
Working closely with 2 board-certified ophthalmologists. Observing clinical cases in a busy outpatient facility.
Observing all surgical procedures.
CityVet is a busy, urban small animal and exotics practice in the heart of Dallas, TX. This practice sees many small animal medicine and surgery cases as well as exotics such as rabbits, guinea pigs, lizards, snakes, birds, and pot-bellied pigs. Students will get to experience dentistry with radiographs and extractions, surgical cases from routine spay/neuter to GDV repair and splenectomies. We offer full imaging services from radiographs to ultrasound. CityVet also focuses on wellness and preventative medicine with a client-centric model.
Our hospital is a private referral surgery practice. Student will shadow appointments with surgeons, assist in exams, scrub and assist with surgical procedures. Reading and preparing for the cases scheduled for the following day is necessary. There are two board-certified surgeons present in the clinic and one board-eligible surgeon. Student can spend time with any of the surgeons on the staff during rotation.
