Externs can expect to spend 8-10 hours per day with internist, surgeon, or emergency clinican. Discussion of cases including differentials, diagnostics, therapies and outcomes will be expected. Hands on experience is dependent on case load and type of case. At times, students will be directed to another service to experience unique or interesting cases/procedures. Free time between cases is to be spent reading/studying.

CEH provides both general and secondary level care to horses in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina. All doctors in our practice have a strong commitment to the education of our externs. We will provide the student with a wide variety of equine experience in a progressive and positive private practice setting
Observe and assist in daily Veterinary appointments and procedures. Occassional opportunity to perform spays/neuters on shelter animals. Vets here have a special interest in dentistry, surgery (orthopedics and soft tissue), rescue work, and exotic pets.
We are a non-profit organization that raises and trains dogs for the visually impaired. We have our own breeding colony of dogs, and we raise 450 puppies a year in order to graduate 220 trained guides for our clients. The veterinary team consists of 2 full time veterinarians, and a support staff of licensed veterinary technicans. We are responsible for the care of 100 breeding dogs, 500 puppies, and 175 dogs in training in our Canine Development Center at any given time. We do routine preventive health care as well as any urgent or emergency care necessary for our dogs, including abdominal exploratories, c-sections, dental work including extractions, orthodontics and bonding teeth, wound care, reproduction medicine and routine spays and neuters. We radiograph to screen all dogs for dysplasia before they enter their formal training to be a guide dog. We work with our visually impaired clients to teach them how to care for their dog once they leave our campus.
Two doctor practice with a high volume case load of predominantly oncology cases with a moderate number of internal medicine cases. We offer a wide variety of diagnostics and treatment plans to our patients, including electrochemotherapy.
Rural mixed animal practice with 3 practicing veterinarian, we also have a boarded internal specialist at the clinic one day a week. Large and small, we do it all with a few exotics at times.
The extern student will participate in all aspects of clinical zoo medicine, including physical exams, diagnostics, clinical procedures, necropsies, record keeping, and staff communication.
Dog and Cat Dentist is a two-doctor specialty practice in Los Angeles, CA. We offer the full scope and range of veterinary dentistry and oral surgery services on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Students will have direct access to our two board-certified veterinary dentists, are welcome in the examination room with the doctors, and will assist in procedures/patient care when appropriate. Students with 4-week rotations on our Service will be expected to identify a topic of interest during their first week, prepare and present a 15-minute MS PowerPoint presentation to the clinic staff during the final week of the rotation.
Animal Hospital of Worthington is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive preventative medical, surgical and dental care. We offer clients a range of available services to suit each pet’s specific health needs. Primary services offered include wellness exams, spays & neuters, vaccinations, parasite prevention, flea-tick control, heartworm testing and prevention.
