90% Equine general practice with a specialty in equine podiatry. Dr. Lordan is a DVM Certified Journeyman Farrier with a Therapeutic Farriery Endorsement from the American Farriers' Association. Rotation will be include 50% equine podiatry cases, 50% equine general practice (mostly lameness and diagnostic ultrasound). There will be likely be some small ruminant cases as well.
This is a high level sports medicine and rehabilitation referral clinic for mainly upper level dressage horses. Practice owner is international level dressage rider, judge and trainer form the Netherlands. Focus on axial skeleton with radiology and ultrasound imaging as well as EMG. Co-owber and spouse is ACVS boarded surgeon with professional employment at UoM in research
Mad River Veterinary Hospital is a general practice located in Springfield, Ohio, 1 hour west of Columbus. We offer preventive and sick patient care, diagnostics, surgery, dental services, and physical rehabilitation. Our 13,000 sq foot facility is large, modern, and designed to provide all the equipment and space needed for whole-patient care.
The student will be exposed to a busy general practice and a busy Urgent Care. Our Urgent Care provides most services that a 24 hour emergency hospital provides - surgeries, diagnostics, and treatments. We partner with our sister hospital, Puget Sound Veterinary Specialists and Emergency (PSVSE), so there will be opportunities for exposure to a specialty practice. Emphasis will be placed on correct record keeping, client interaction, developing a diagnostic tree, developing a treatment plan, drug calculations, and integration into a team.

Will have opportunity to see high volume equine reproduction practice. Will learn options for managing mares that are here for breed to carry, embryo transfer, ICSI, and recipient mares. Will have the opportunity to watch oocyte aspirations and the searching of dominant and immature oocytes. Will be able to see the vitrification of embryos, transfer of frozen/thawed and fresh embryos, as well as the ICSI procedure. May have the opportunity to ride with our ambulatory veterinarians
GLVC is a 24 hour, 7 day week emergency facility. Expectations of the clinical student are to function similar to clinical floor with active participation in rounds on inpatients, primary case management from triage to discharge under close supervision of the shift ER doctor, basic emergency procedures under the direct supervision of the shift ER doctor, and elective assistance in major emergency procedures/surgeries. Our facility also has direct resources of a boarded cardiologist and ultrasound group and indirect resources of a boarded internist.
Large Animal Surgery – The objective of this course is to teach students proper restraint techniques, examination procedures, diagnostic techniques, and surgical techniques that are commonly used in the practice of large animal surgery; to teach students anatomical and pathophysiological basics of large animal lameness and surgical diseases; to teach senior veterinary students patient care including medical and surgical therapy, nutritional management, intensive care, client communication, and cost of therapy as related to large animal surgical diseases; and to teach students logical assessment of physical, clinicopathological, and diagnostic information pertaining to large animal surgical disease using the problem-oriented medical record system.
Winthrop Veterinary Clinic is a 95% Food Animal General Practice. We provide ambulatory service to a mix of swine, beef cow/calf, feedlot and dairy clients. Services include routine herd health programs, diagnostic services, ultrasound pregnancy diagnosis for all food animal species, reproductive services including Artificial insemination, Embryo flushing and transfer, Laproscopic AI of small ruminants, Breeding Soundness Exams, and general food animal surgeries including C-section, Hernia repair, teaser bull preparation, porcine vasectomies and Displaced Abomasums.
Exotics specialty private practice with an ABVP board certified Avian, Exotic Companion Mammal, and Amphibian Reptile specialists as well as CVA and CTPEP practitioners. We also have an ACIM board certified small animal internal medicine specialist with certification in palliative care.
