Description of Elective Experience:

The student will be assigned 3-4 patients referred to the NC State veterinary hospital dermatology service per day in the clinics. Student will review the referral documents from the primary veterinarian, gather a history from the owner and conduct a physical and dermatologic examination of the patient, with assistance. Student will be supervised by either a dermatology resident (3) or board certified dermatology clinician (3). The student will also be responsible for completing the discharge summary (medical record), which will be reviewed by the resident or clinician before emailing to the owner and pDVM. Receiving patients Monday to Thursday. On Friday, the student will attend student rounds guided by a dermatology resident. Student will be on clinics with and interact with 2 other senior veterinary students and two dermatology technicians.

Doral Centre is a 24-hour facility that provides a wide range of services, including small animal general practice, emergency medicine, and everything in between. Wildbase Hospital International Veterinary Student Internship

Intern will be working and learning within the day-to-day activities of the Wildbase Hospital, alongside Massey veterinary students.

Students will spend their 2-3 week-long externship working with our veterinarians and staff as they go about working with our clients and their calves.  Externs will also take part in consultations, research trial design and/or assistance, research animal caretaking, research animal processing, emergency calls, vaccination protocol creation, diagnostics, and necropsy.  The extern will also be expected to develop a presentation on a special case or topic from their time on the Calfternship that they will then present to the group at their last Thursday here during the morning vet meeting.

Individual appointments are seen in house with most herd services performed in the country. Bovine Reproduction (estrus synchronization, artificial insemination, embryo recovery, freezing and implanting, breeding soundness evaluation, portable ultrasound pregnancy evaluation.)
