The program is designed for fourth-year veterinary students. They will be given a full range of opportunities in aquatic and terrestrial animal husbandry and medicine which includes whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, walruses, sharks and rays, marine and freshwater fishes, penguins, and many other species of birds, amphibians, and reptiles at the SeaWorld parks; as well as gorillas, chimpanzees, lions, tigers, cheetahs, elephants, rhinoceroses, hippos, giraffes, zebras, antelope, kangaroos, wallabies, aardvarks, giant anteaters, and many other small-sized terrestrial mammals at Busch Gardens. Within such a diverse collection, there are some unique aquatic animals only found in certain parks, such as, the polar bears and southern sea otters at SeaWorld California, Pacific white-sided dolphins at SeaWorld Texas, and manatees at SeaWorld Florida. We offer a great variety of small animal and large animal experience here at Endless Mountians Veterinary Center. I think we are a very well-rounded mixed animal practice. The student will have the opportunity to do some work in both areas. We typically have our externs help with our small animal appointments, vaccines, working up cases, seeing some emergencies and sick pets, as well as performing surgeries. On the large animal side, we do a lot of herd health recommendations, pregnancy checks, routine surgeries, and emergencies. We are a 24/7 emergency clinic - so the student would have the opportiunity to see some on-call hours/emergencies as well. We start our week with a doctor meeting between the owners and associates to discuss various cases - the extern would be present for that as well.
