The student will be expected to shadow and participate in case discussion and manangement in a busy, 3 doctor, small animal practice. If time and experience allows student will be allowed to participate in surgeries and assist in any surgical and dental procedures.

CityVet is a busy, urban small animal and exotics practice in the heart of Dallas, TX. This practice sees many small animal medicine and surgery cases as well as exotics such as rabbits, guinea pigs, lizards, snakes, birds, and pot-bellied pigs. Students will get to experience dentistry with radiographs and extractions, surgical cases from routine spay/neuter to GDV repair and splenectomies. We offer full imaging services from radiographs to ultrasound. CityVet also focuses on wellness and preventative medicine with a client-centric model.

Our hospital is a private referral surgery practice.  Student will shadow appointments with surgeons, assist in exams, scrub and assist with surgical procedures.  Reading and preparing for the cases scheduled for the following day is necessary.  There are two board-certified surgeons present in the clinic and one board-eligible surgeon.  Student can spend time with any of the surgeons on the staff during rotation.

•Develop the skills you need to enhance the services you can offer clients from day 1 in private dairy cattle practice and become a valuable asset to your new clinic.

4 week (Core Skills) and 2 week (Advanced Technique) offerings to 4th year dairy veterinary students.

The UBC Animal Welfare Program is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in research, agriculture, and other areas through research, teaching and public outreach. During their rotation, students will be able to work with animal science faculty members and graduate students on current research projects in the areas of dairy cattle welfare, welfare of animals used in research, wildlife-human interactions, welfare of companion animals, and stakeholder views on animal welfare and policy. In the process, students will learn about animal welfare research study design, implementation, and the impact this research has on public policy and animal husbandry practices. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to live and work at the UBC Dairy Education and Research Centre where approximately 500 animals are used for research as well as milked and housed in a typical modern dairy farm setting. At the Dairy Centre, students will also work with faculty, staff, and students on current research projects and learn more about dairy cattle welfare, research, and dairy herd management.

Student will shadow licensed veterinarian in every aspect of their workday including appointments, internal medicine diagnostics, treatments and surgery.  With guidance and supervision student may be asked to perform minor procedures at clinician's discretion.

The student will gain experience in the daily workings of an ambulatory equine practice with a focus on preventive care and maintenance. By observing and participating in all aspects of the practice, the student will obtain a better feel for how a primary care facility operates, from field procedures to billing and account management.

Two week hands on and shadowing experience under direction of Patrick D. Choyce DVM, Medical Director, All Pets Animal Hospital and 24 Hour Emergency Care. Outpatient routine services for dogs, cats, birds, other exotic companion pets, house calls, 24 hr onsite emergency and critical care, routien and advanced surgery, ultrasound, rehabilitation and fitness.

Students will work along side the veterinary team. They will experience the day to day operations of the zoo assisting with preventative and emergency care as well as learning animal husbandry as the opportunity arises. They will have opportunity to assist/ or observe necropsy, preventative care and emergency procedures at the zoo.
