Bliss Veterinary Services is a fast paced mixed- animal practice located in Eastern Ohio. We are a full-service animal hospital that welcomes both emergency treatment cases as well as routine medical, surgical, and dental care for both large and small animals.
Morgantown Veterinary Care will work to give you general practice work experience along with mentorship, and exposure to day-to-day general practice and day emergency cases, with some guided business and management exposure as well.
We will strive to give you the opportunity to practice and learn the skills necessary to becoming a proficient general practitioner in a fun and supportive environment.
The student will gain exposure to the diverse aspects of diagnostic pathology and experience the day-to-day work of an anatomic pathology resident. The student will participate in gross necropsies, collecting and trimming tissue samples, and examining these samples as well as biopsy samples microscopically alongside other veterinary students, pathology residents, and faculty. The student will also participate in pathology rounds, seminars, and journal clubs. In addition, the student may self-study from gross images and slide sets.
This elective will have extensive exposure to Bovine embryo transfer including donor management, superovulation protocols, embryo recovery, handling, freezing and transfer. Additional time will involve all aspects of an intense calving period and associated dystocias, etc.
Student will be accompaning veterianrians to farm calls for horses and livestock.Also observing and assisting with surgiers.
The student will accompany the veterinarian/practice owner on calls on this mobile practice. Procedures will be explained and the student will with the procedures. Arms free ultrasound is used for routine reproductive and pregnancy exam. The student will be able to visualize ultrasound images and begin using the introducer probe. The practice work type is dependent upon the season. During all seasons there are beef and dairy reproductive exams. In the spring and early summer there is routine equine care.
The externship involves participation in the necropsy service like other fourth year students. Externs also participate in resident rounds and seminars.
MedVet is a multispecialty referral hospital that treats small animals in two locations in the Greater New Orleans area. We are a part of the MedVet organization of specialty hospitals. The student will work alongside a specialist each day and participate in assessment, diagnostic testing, and will have exposure to both inpatient and outpatient care. Specialties include internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, radiology, critical care, surgery, anesthesia, rehabilitation, dermatology, medical oncology, and clinical pathology.
Student will have the opportunity to communicate with clients to obtain histories, educate them on services and products offered and work with the mentor doctor to perform physical exams and medical procedures and to assist with diagnostic and treatment procedures, including bloodwork, cytology, ultrasound, dental cleanings and surgery.
