We are Veterinary Emergency Group, an organization founded on a single mission: helping people and their pets when they need it most. VEG's rapidly growing group of hospitals has revolutionized pet emergency and urgent care with a client-centered approach, rapid response times, and a highly focused-emergency-only staff. With multiple locations, we offer the flexibility, mentorship, and diverse learning experience you want. Our industry-leading compensation, unlimited CE, and growth opportunities are just part of what makes VEG the place for emergency doctors to work. VEG's Externship Program allows students to gain hands-on experience in emergency medicine while working right alongside our skilled emergency doctors. Students will focus on learning how to effectively communicate with clients, diagnose a variety of emergency conditions, develop emergency treatment plans, and collaborate with support staff in a fast-paced environment.

Okay, now that we got that out of the way, and hopefully grabbed your attention, here’s a bit more detail about our practices:
Meet Dr. David Eddleman
A native of Missouri, I graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. I started out at a bustling veterinary clinic in southern Indiana before taking a position in Muncie, Indiana. The chance of a lifetime opened up to me when South Anderson Veterinary Clinic was posted for sale in 2000. In 2000, I became the official owner of SAVC. In 2009, I was unexpectedly approached about opening a second practice. And as every piece fell perfectly into place, I opened Country Critters Veterinary Hospital in the Spring of 2010. We even had an appointment the first day we were open. Today, both practices are thriving and growing quickly, with an all-star TEAM and great clients.
I am always looking to bring another veterinarian into the SAVC/CCVH family, even for internships and externships. I believe great things happen when everyone is willing to roll up their sleeves and work together with a common goal in mind. In our daily practice, we strive to care for each animal as our own. Because we believe that the pet-owner bond is precious and that each pet and person deserves to be loved.
If you are interested or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly (or my Hospital Administrator Allison).
I hope to hear from you soon!

This experience is an intensive laboratory animal experience at a medium sized public university. The breadth of our program supports both rodent and non-rodent studies, encompassing various research needs including metabolic diseases, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and behavioral diseases affecting human urban populations. Additionally, our collaboration with the local VA hospital includes research important to veterans, including both warfare illness/injury and behavioral diseases that affect US veterans.
We are a full service general practice with a varied and intensive caseload including surgery, dentistry, internal medicine/endocrinology as well as wellness interests. We are a busy 2.5 doctor practice. We have multiple specialists who come in - ultrasound, orthopedics and cardiology on a rotating basis as needed. We enjoy getting our externs into the everyday excitement that comes with our hospital and are excited to have them hands-on in all aspects of our medical and surgical cases.
Animal Dermatology Group is the largest collection of veterinary dermatology specialty practices worldwide. We are looking for motivated individuals who are interested in furthering their dermatology knowledge by participating in externships, dermatology internships or residency training programs. Skin and ear disease are consistently among the top 5 pet owner complaints in small animal practices. Whether preparing for a general practice career or exploring options for training as a veterinary dermatologist, an ADG externship is beneficial to all. With locations across the country there are numerous locations for students to visit and further their careers with a high volume of dermatology cases.
Students will observe and assist in cases presented to a dermatology specialty practice. During the externship they will be expected to build on what they have learned and continue to develop their skills including history taking, dermatology exam skills, and become proficient at in house diagnostics including skin scrapes and cytology. Multihead teaching microscope and observations screens, video otoscopy units and CO2 laser surgical units are commonly used.
